Buckley went on to explain why the two legendary rivals would agree to such a transaction involving their great players, despite the fact that it appears implausible that the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers would do so given the long history of competition between the two teams.

Davis would also make an intriguing frontcourt combo with Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, but the Celtics’ wing scoring would be hindered if they gave up Brown in exchange for Porzingis and Horford.
Davis’s deal with the Lakers was recently extended through 2028, and its total value was increased to $261 million. The extension also includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.
